2023 - World theatre day : History, Occasion and Celebration



History:

Wolrd TheatreDay is celebrated on March 27th every year. It was initiated by the International Theatre Institute (ITI) in 1961 to promote the importance of theatre and its cultural significance worldwide.



On this day, various events are organized by theatre communities around the world to celebrate the art of theatre. These events include theatre performances, seminars, workshops, and discussions on the role of theatre in society.


On occasion:


The theme for World Theatre Day changes every year and is chosen by the ITI. The theme for World Theatre Day 2022 was "Theatre Reunited: Arts Beyond Borders," which focused on the power of theatre to unite people across cultures and borders.

World Theatre Day is an opportunity for theatre lovers to celebrate their passion for the performing arts and to raise awareness of the value of theatre in society.


World Theatre Day is also a day to honor the contributions of actors, directors, playwrights, technicians, and other professionals who work in the theatre industry.
