Stive Smith announced his participation in the IPL 2023 through a video
Smith confirmed his participation through a video on his social media handle and while he did not name his team, fans of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) couldn't keep calm.
On Monday, Smith, amid all the rumours, confirmed his return to IPL for the 2023 season. "Namaste India. I have got some exciting news for you. I am joining IPL 2023. I am joining an exceptional and passionate team in India," he said in a video posted on Twitter.
Minutes after Smith posted the video, his social media handle was flooded with requests from Indian fans.
However, it has emerged that the Australian vice-captain will not be coming to the world's richest cricket league as a player but as a commentator instead. The confirmation of Smith's commentary stint is still awaited, as fans wait to find out whether the 33-year-old will be on the mic for the TV or digital broadcaster. It is worth remembering that two different platforms own the broadcast and streaming rights for the 16th edition of the tournament.
